Adrian Monck Appointed to World Economic Forum Managing Board

Geneva, Switzerland 6 September 2016 – The World Economic Forum today announced that Adrian Monck has been appointed to the organization’s Managing Board.

“I am delighted to be appointed to the Managing Board of the World Economic Forum at such an exciting time in its development. As the international institution for public-private cooperation, the need for the Forum’s work has never been greater,” said Adrian Monck, Head of Public Engagement and Foundations at the World Economic Forum.

As a member of the Managing Board, he will ensure that public engagement and the voices of youth, innovative leaders and social entrepreneurs are embedded in the Forum’s multistakeholder approach. He joined the organization in 2009 as Head of Public Engagement and in 2015 became Head of Foundations, overseeing the Global Shapers Community, the Schwab Foundation for Social Entrepreneurship and the Forum of Young Global Leaders.

Monck has had a diverse and award-winning career in journalism. Born in Great Yarmouth, UK, Monck began his career at the news division of the US network CBS before joining UK broadcaster ITN’s News at Ten in 1992. While there, he won awards for his reporting on, among other issues, the Bosnian War and aid to Rwanda. In 1996, Monck launched – and became managing editor of – the news service for the UK’s youngest terrestrial channel, Five. Under his stewardship, Five News received several awards for the quality and style of its broadcasting. From 2005 to 2009, he led the journalism department at City University, London, where he was also a professor. While there, he was a member of the Forum’s first Global Agenda Council on Journalism and served as president of the UK’s Media Society. He has co-authored two books. Adrian is married and has two children.
