Paris is one of the global fashion capitals of the world, with tourists thronging the city to get their dose of fashion and couture. A significant number of the most sought-after designers and fashion events have as their hub the city of love, making Paris among the top-most popular fashion centres in the world.
The French European Indian Fashion Week is all set to take place from 21st– 23rd October at the iconic Eiffel Tower, a landmark that characterises the romance of the city. This fashion week’s vision is to “redefine the future of fashion and integrate France, India, Asia and European countries into the global fashion world.” As one of the 12 Indian designers invited to showcase their collection at the fashion week, Madhu Jain will be introducing her legendary Ikat collection on the ramp after a hiatus of eight years! A hands-on advocate of reviving India’s traditional crafts and working only with natural fibres, Madhu has carved a niche for herself amongst the top designers of the country.
Acknowledged as the First Lady of Ikat, Madhu is recognised for developing new weaves using Ikat of Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, Thailand and Uzebekistan. She will be debuting in the Paris couture scene at this much-coveted fashion week, marking the historic moment of a fashion event hosted at the Eiffel Tower for the first time! To showcase her Andhra-inspired Ikat collection at the Eiffel Tower, and to be invited by the French European Indian Fashion Week organisers to Paris, could not be a prouder moment for Madhu and for the country she represents: India!
