Kolkata, 4th December: JIS Group Educational Initiatives and The Sikh Cultural Centre (THE SIKH REVIEW) have joined hands to celebrate the 350th Birth Anniversary of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji, by organizing a Seminar cum Virasati Programme at Nazrul Manch, Kolkata on 4th Dec. 2016 from 10 am to 8.00 pm.
The Programme is starting with a Welcome Speech by S. Avtar Singh, Publishing In Charge, THE SIKH REVIEW, followed by soulful Gurbani Sabd Kirtan by the students of different Sikh schools of the city.
A seminar is being conducted, in which renowned scholars will deliver their speeches – in Punjabi, English and Bengali – on the life, teaching and contribution of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji. The participating scholars are – Harjinder Singh Majhi (Sikh Scholar), Dr. Sukhprit Singh Udhoke (Historian),Dr. Roop Singh (Secy. Dharam Parchar Committee, S.G.P.C, Amritsar), Prof Himadree Banerjee (Former Head,Guru Nanak Chair, Jadavpur University) and S.A.P. Singh (Former International Director, Lions Club).
Kavi Darbar, particularly dedicated to the poetic contribution of the glorious Guru, will be held, in which renowned Punjabi poets S. Gurbhajan Singh Gill (President, Punjab Sahitya Academy and Poet), S. Jaswant Singh Zafar, S. Sukhwinder Singh Rataul, Gurjit Singh Vairowal (Young Poets and Preacher from Gurmat Gian Missionary College, Ludhiana) and S. Waryam Singh and his group will perform classical poetic recitation.
In the third segment a young group from Punjab “Gur Gadi Raah Musical Group” will present a Musical programme, in which Punjabi songs are to be sung by the group members in glorification of the great Guru and the rich tradition of Sikhism.
The final part of the programme will thrill the audience with the action packed performance of Gatka (Sikh Martial Art) by the Bir Khalsa Dal – Guinness World Record holder Gatka group. The extraordinary and electrifying Gatka performance will highlight the Martial tradition of the Khalsa Panth.
This one day Seminar-cum-Virasati Programme is being attended by a large number of people from all walks of life. And the people have come to attend this grand event not only from Kolkata & West Bengal, but also from the neighboring states of Odisha, Jharkhand, and Bihar.
What is remarkable is that the auditorium remained packed with the audience, who seems to have enjoyed every moment of this grand event held in the City of Joy – Kolkata and their hearts were overwhelmed as Bhai Gurdas ji – a contemporary poet – says, ‘WAH WAH GOBIND SINGH APE GUR CHELA’ and took home the message of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji – Equality of Mankind – “MANAS KI JAAT SABHE EKEA PEHCHANBO.”
