The NORTHCAP University (formerly ITM University), Gurgaon in collaboration with The American Society for Quality (ASQ) recently organized‘2015 Quality Conclave’ at the University premises. The theme of the conclave was ‘Quality for Life.’ More than 200 students and faculty membersand about 25 industry experts attended the conclave. The industry-student synergy was enhanced by the presence of many industry leaders who brought with them their unique experiences and inspired the students to walk the road of quality. The event was graced by the presence of industry experts and academicians, including Prof. Prem Vrat, Pro-Chancellor, NCU; Mr NP Chandok, Associate Vice President – Quality, Hero Motocorp; Mr IV Rao, Executive Advisor, MSIL; Mr Ciby James, Director -ASQ India; Dr Arati Verma, Sr VP Medical Quality, Max Healthcare; Ms Savita Bradoo, Director Quality Convergys; Mr Lokendra Kulshrestha, Director Business Transformation APAC, Philips Lighting amongst others.
Mr Ciby James, Director -ASQ India said that knowledge of quality is important for a good career. These days’ employers are looking for people who have skills related to team working, leadership and process management rather than just technical knowledge. Quality is about these areas, and helps to fill the gaps to being job ready.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Ravindra Ojha, Director School of Engineering and Technology, NCU said, “An extremely successful Quality Conclave has been conducted at the NCU. Quality leaders from Tata, Philips, Maruti, Hero Motocorp, Max Healthcare, Convergys, Concentrix have participated in this Conclave. In the young minds of the University, it has triggered three key dimensions of Quality – health, service and co-existence.”
Prof. PremVrat, Pro-Chancellor, NCU, addressed the importance and relevance of Quality in life and workplace. Mr IV Rao and Mr Ciby James highlighted the healthy association between ASQ and NCU and talked about Quality Engagement. The invited speakers delivered talks on importance and role of Quality in different realms of life including service sector and healthcare industry. They also focused on the fact that service quality can be the only way forward for growth.
The students of NCU actively participated in the open session conducted by Mr KC Mehra, Chairman SKF Bearings. “I am glad to be a part of The NorthCap University as I get immense exposure and by attending the conclave I understood that only technical aspect is not important but being a leader and working in a team is very crucial to build a good career,” said a student.
