New Delhi June 20, 2016: Buzz4Health, a unique platform for doctors and medical students, is encouraging people to gift a life by donating blood. Every year our nation requires about 5 Crore units of blood, out of which only a meager 2.5 Crore units of blood are available while more than 38,000 blood donations are needed every day.
Realizing the need of more blood donors, the doctors registered at Buzz4Health.com, Dr Sidharth Sonthalia and Dr Jitin Narula have expressed their thoughts on blood donors in India.
According to Dr Sidharth Sonthalia, MD, DNB, MNAMS, FISD, Senior Consultant Dermatologist; Medical Director, SKINNOCENCE: The Skin Clinic, Gurugram. Founder Director of DERMASOURCEINDIA, “A Family has traditionally been considered to be a group of people associated with each other through a common ‘blood line’. And if blood-connectivity is indeed the measure of ‘family’, then let’s take it metaphorically to attain “Vasudhev Kutumbakam”, the quintessential concept of universal human fraternization so deeply engrained in the Indian clairvoyance. Lets expand our family by donating blood. Delhi NCR alone faces a shortage of 100,000 units per year. Blood cannot be manufactured – it can only come from generous donors. Blood donation is said to be beneficial to the donor’s health. It can prevent accumulation of toxics quantities to patients prone to iron overload, may lower the risk of heart disease in men, effectively reduce blood pressure, blood glucose and heart rate in patients with metabolic syndrome. DONATE BLOOD. “
Further he added “You may never know who gets your donation, but it will indeed save someone’s life, and offer hope and peace to so many others; perhaps a mother waiting outside an operation theatre praying for her son’s recovery, a husband, hoping against hope for the safety of his wife and a child who is yet to explore this beautiful world! Not everyone can be a doctor; but that does not mean you cannot contribute as a healer and save lives! You can DONATE BLOOD every three months. Let’s contribute to saving lives by donating blood”
Dr Jitin Narula who is Associate Consultant, Department of Cardiac Anesthesiology, Max Super Speciality Hospital said”If you feel there is something you want to do for this country and for mankind, donate blood! It’s as noble as organ donation as it brings back life to those in dire need of it. As organ donation usually occurs posthumously, after donating blood you can be happy and proudly boast that your small gesture has saved many lives! Every blood donor is a hero, so step forward and give someone the gift of life on this Blood Donation Day.”
One donation can help save the lives of up to three people. Buzz4Health wants people to come up and join the cause to save a life by donating blood.
