Updated model marks first G-SHOCK watch to feature four sensors in the ultimate seafaring tool
DOVER, N.J., Aug. 12, 2016 /PRNewswire/ — Today, Casio G-SHOCK announces the release of the GULFMASTER GWNQ1000-1A, a new model that introduces Quad Sensor technology, adding a water depth sensor to the watch for the first-time ever alongside the atmospheric pressure sensor (altimeter/barometer), temperature sensor (thermometer), and magnetic sensor for compass readings. Designed specifically for coast guard officers and others who are extremely active at sea, this new addition to the GULFMASTER line is equipped to track changing ocean conditions and help users during intense rescue activities.
The GULFMASTER GWNQ1000-1A features an atmospheric pressure sensor to help predict a sudden change in weather conditions, as well as a temperature sensor to read changes in air and water temperature. The watch also comes with a magnetic sensor to help detect bearing, and a water depth sensor to measure an individual’s current depth under water. Combined, the five sensor modes (altitude, atmospheric pressure, temperature, depth and compass bearing) are meant to enable the user to assess changing ocean conditions in real time to swiftly rescue a person in need. Each of the sensor modes is displayed on the watch’s face, with a button to toggle between sensors on its side.
In addition to the Quad Sensor Technology, the GULFMASTER GWNQ1000-1A contains all the features that makes G-SHOCK the leader in absolute toughness. The watch comes equipped with 200M Water Resistance and Shock Resistance, Full Auto Double LED Light, World Time with 31 time zones that include 48 cities + UTC, Barometric Pressure Alarm, Tide Indicator, 4 Daily Alarms and 1 Snooze Alarm, 1/100th second Stopwatch, Countdown Timer, 12/24 Hour Formats, and a Storm Alarm, all in a 48mm case.
The GWNQ1000-1A is also the first GULFMASTER model to feature a sapphire crystal, and is accompanied by a special optimized case made of carbon fiber casing and metal pipes for high durability and enhanced water resistance for use in extreme ocean environments.
The GULFMASTER GWNQ1000-1A will be available in black with blue accents, and will retail for $850 USD beginning in September at the G-SHOCK NYC SoHo store, select Macy’s, select fashion boutiques, and www.gshock.com.
About G-SHOCK
CASIO’s shock-resistant G-SHOCK watch is synonymous with toughness, born from the developer Mr. Ibe’s dream of ‘creating a watch that never breaks’. Over 200 handmade samples were created and tested to destruction until finally in 1983 the first, now iconic G-SHOCK hit the streets of Japan and began to establish itself as ‘the toughest watch of all time’. Each watch encompasses the 7 elements; electric shock resistance, gravity resistance, low temperature resistance, vibration resistance, water resistance, shock resistance and toughness. The watch is packed with Casio innovations and technologies to prevent it from suffering direct shock; this includes internal components protected with urethane and suspended timekeeping modules inside the watch structure. Since its launch, G-SHOCK has continued to evolve, continuing to support on Mr. Ibe’s mantra “never, never give up.”www.gshock.com
