Salim-Suleiman and Sukhwinder Singh sing Peer Manaawan Challiyaan-having produced this track as an ode to the national flag, Tiranga Lehraye is penned by Sukhwinder Singh himself; and he sings it with equal flair. Talking about freedom and national pride, this tune is sure to leave audiences thunder-struck across the country.
Joining in to celebrate are India’s premier hip hop talent, Manj Musik & Raftaar featuring Jashan Singh for Allah Ve. Punjabi legend Gurdas Mann, pens a song he had originally written and composed in 1982, called Ki Banu Duniya Da. He re-writes it here, featuring a stellar performance by current Punjabi superstar Diljit Dosanjh. This exclusive track, arranged by Jatinder Shah, sees a first time collaboration of these big names of Punjabi music, reiterating a message for the youth that speaks about not forgetting your roots, in this age of modernity. Especially picking on themes like drug-abuse, disenchantment amongst the youth and the future of our nation, the real punch is delivered through the lyrics written by Gurdas Maan himself.

The renditions will not only leave you spell bound, but also ensure to rouse the inherent feeling of patriotism as synonymous with us as a nation”.
Adding further, Aditya Swamy, EVP and Business Head, MTV said,”Music will always be the core of MTV and this show reflects that the core is alive and kicking. We keep pushing the boundaries on collaborations and this time the combinations of artists as well as genres has been incredible. We look forward to presenting this music across our broadcast and digital assets to celebrate our Incredible India, in this very unique Independence Special of Coke Studio at MTV”.
Speaking about their composition, eclectic music producer and singers, Salim-Sulaiman said-”For us, Coke Studio at MTV is a perfect example of a diverse amalgamation of great music. We consider this as a brilliant platform for musicians to collaborate. We have joined hands with Sukhwinder Singh this time and performed something extremely close to our hearts which we would otherwise never get to do. We hope people enjoy the music as much as we did conceptualizing it.”
Versatile music producer and singer, Sukhwinder Singh – “Coke Studio is an experimental musical program and it creates opportunities for artists to do completely new things. I am really glad that they have created an episode for Independence Day which is again creative and full of music.”
Music sensation and versatile composer, Gurdas Mann – “It is my true honor and privilege to be a part of music platform like Coke Studio at MTV. Composing a song which reiterates and speaks to the youth about not forgetting your roots in this age of modernity has been an enriching experience. Especially picking on themes like drug-abuse, disenchantment amongst the youth and the future of our nation. This will be one of my most memorable collaborations in years to come.”
A beacon of independent music and electrifying rapper, Diljit Dosanjh-“It is one of those biggest moments of my life when I am speechless on the kindness of babaji towards me. I am not even close to the eminence of legendary Gurdas maan ji and imagine not only the opportunity to perform next to him but Coke Studio@MTV has given me a moment to preserve and treasure. On the occasion of 15th Aug, I was offered to become a part of one of Maan sir’s masterpiece which I have always loved and grown up listening to. This is not just close to my heart but also has a strong message that our generation and nation should feel attached to. We have tried to experiment and fuse Punjabi folk with ambient contemporary music that resonates with the youth of this country. We have tried to keep the music fresh and upbeat without being preachy. The issues we talk about in the song are very relatable”.
India’s premier hip hop talent, Manj Musik & Raftaar-“We would like to thank Coke Studio@MTV for giving us an opportunity to contribute to the nation through our music. This single is special because this is the first time we are merging dance music, rap and sufi with some references from the great Kabir. We believe no one is born with a passport and this single is all about universal love”.
The tracks will be released on digital media on the eve of Independence Day. They will also be aired on MTV on 16th August, 2015.
