A center to develop India’s Space Science in AP

 

Bangalore, November 16: A center of excellence on Space Sciences and Technologies for Development, CoE4SSTD to be developed  in Hindpur, Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh, India.

CANEUS International, a satellite and space technology organization signed a tripartite agreement with Andhra Pradesh Economic Development Board, APEDB, Andhra Pradesh State Skill Development Corporation, APSSDC to this effect in Bengaluru on November 16, 2017.

Milind Pimrikar, Chairman, CANEUS, said, ” This knowledge-intensive space industry is an exciting niche opportunity for Andhra Pradesh, state has the potential to create technology based careers for those focussing on emerging technologies to solve problems and usher in industry 4.0″.

With an objective to place Andhra Pradesh as a vibrant innovation center with a strategic direction to aid national space science initiatives, give impetus to space technology infrastructure, help participate in international capacity building, partner and collaborate in innovation and research of cutting-edge space science and technologies to further support data – driven capacities.

The MoU was signed by Milind Pimrikar, Chairman, CANEUS and Krishna Kishore , CEO of APEDB . Ms Simonetta Di pippo, an Italian astro- physicist , Director, United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs , UNOOSA and a few other ISRO sceintists and officials were present. Indeed asteroid 20887 was named after ” dipippo ” honouring her contributions in space exploration by International Astronomical Union, IAU.

J.Krishna kishore, CEO of APEDB observed, CoE4SSTD will give a head start not to Andhra Pradesh alone but will be a frontrunner in Andhra Pradesh Sustainable Development Goals. He added,” fostering such collaborations remain a key focus for Andhra Pradesh.This center of excellence will build deep industry relevant capabilities and develop a pipeline of talent to support our growing aero space industry, create excellent ecosystem to turn Anantapur into a manufacturing hub.”

CoE4SSTD is to be developed in an area of 60 acres in Hindpur of Anantapur district, Andhra Pradesh. This would generate 500 highly skilled jobs as well as 1000 indirect jobs. Aimed to channelize much needed support to aero space and defense ecosystem in Andhra Pradesh and help align the state to 2030 agenda for Sustainable Development.

Investments in space technology are inclusive and socially responsible that requires new avenues of international co-operation. Hope this MoU rings in such new avenues in ever evolving international landscape.
