The stage set and there is an air of huge expectancy as Mamata Banerjee, Hon’ble Chief Minister of West Bengal, and Mr Partha Chatterjee, Hon’ble Minister for Commerce & Industries and IT, West Bengal, are ready to grace the opening day of the four-day Biz Bridge 2013 on the Milan Mela ground in Kolkata on 13 November 2013.
“Biz Bridge 2013 will broaden the industrial horizon in the region,” the Hon’ble Chief Minister, who will address the Special Plenary on the inaugural day, said in a message.
Organised by CII Eastern Region, this biennial engineering and manufacturing exhibition already ranks among the largest held in Eastern India.
While the Hon’ble Chief Minister will address the Special Plenary, where many top-notch industry leaders will be present, the Opening Plenary will be addressed by Mr Partha Chatterjee, Mr Ajay Shankar, Member Secretary, National Manufacturing Competitiveness Council, Dr Krishna Gupta, Managing Director, West Bengal Industrial Development Corporation, and Mr Partha Ghosh, Director, Bengal Aerotropolis Projects Ltd, among others.
“I am confident that Biz Bridge, as the name suggests, will serve as a perfect link between West Bengal and businesses across the world, and herald a new era of entrepreneurship,” said Mr Partha Chatterjee in a separate message.
“In every respect, the fourth edition of Biz Bridge 2013 is going to be a powerful forum for CEOs, decision-makers, technical experts, diplomats and senior executives from materials, R&D, procurement and business development in the manufacturing and engineering sector,” said Mr Sudhir Deoras, CII Eastern Region.
“Vendor Meet is going to be a major attraction in Biz Bridge 2013. There will also be a series of meetings and interactions between a large number of MSMEs and vertical heads of some top energy and defence units located in the region. The Vendor Meet is being held with the primary objective of meeting procurement demand for energy and defence companies in the region,” added Mr Deoras, who is also the Managing Director of TRF Ltd, a Tata group company.
According to industry leaders, with Rs 80,000 crore to be spent on the defence sector in Eastern Region in the next 15 years, the scope is huge for MSMEs in the region as a whole, including West Bengal.

“A slew of business meets, one-on-one interactions, buyer-seller meets, networking, opportunities for product display, sharing of information on product development and innovation, business presentation, live demonstrations, et al, are lined up,” Dr Mukherjee added.
Adding value to Biz Bridge 2013 are a few conferences to be organised on the sidelines of the show.
The exhibition will draw participants from sectors such as Metals and Minerals, Power and Energy, Defence, Machine Tools, Infrastructure and Material Handling. There will also be opportunities for product displays, distribution of industry information, focused business presentations, discussions between industry members, innovations, interactions between manufacturers and users, and buyer-seller meets for business leads.
