Vibrant Gujarat Summit seen as Gateway to India
Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi to inaugurate Vibrant Gujarat 2015 Summit in January
Kolkata, 20 November: The Government of Gujarat organized a roadshow in Kolkata today to showcase the forthcoming Vibrant Gujarat 2015 Summit being organized on 11-13 January, 2015 at Mahatma Mandir, the state-of-the-art convention center in Gandhinagar. The seventh edition of Vibrant Gujarat Summit will be led by the Chief Minister, Smt Anandiben Patel.
Shri Nitin Patel, Minister, Health, Medical Education, Family Welfare, Road & Building and Capital Projects, Gujarat, spearheaded the roadshow at Hotel Hyatt Regency, which was attended by over 200 top industrialists and corporate leaders from the city. The Vibrant Gujarat 2015 Summit will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, who conceptualized and created this biennial event, and transformed it into the business gateway of India. This year the event will be partnered by eight countries – Australia, Canada, Great Britain, Japan, Singapore, South Africa, the Netherlands and the USA.
A presentation covering key sectors of the Gujarat economy was made at the roadshow. Shri Nitin Patel was engaged in several key one-to-one meetings with some of the most prominent industry and business stalwarts of the city.
Shri Raj Gopal, Principal Secretary, Ports & Transport, Government of Gujarat, and other senior officers from the Gujarat Government engaged in several business-to-government meetings.
Gujarat has made rapid strides in agriculture, industry, energy, port development, urban and other infrastructure during Shri Narendra Modi’s 13 years of stewardship of the state as Chief Minister. It is, today, surplus in power generation and has gas and water grids crisscrossing the entire state. This growth story is being continued and carried forward by Smt. Anandiben Patel. The Vibrant Gujarat initiative is today emulated by many other states of the country.
Mr Viresh Oberoi, Chairman, CII Eastern Region, attributed three main reasons why Gujarat has been able to grow at a faster rate than the national average. “First, its devotion to the workings of the free market and the primacy of the private sector. The second is a welcoming attitude towards private investment, and third is less bureaucracy and less state intervention – except when welcoming private investment by tax concessions, investment subsidies, cheap credit and a business-friendly labour policy,” Mr Oberoi said.
During the roadshow, the Gujarat delegation also highlighted other national level events being organized in the state during January – February 2015, namely the Global Trade Show, the Pravasi Bhartiya Diwas, PlastIndia 2015, Rann Utsav (Kutch Desert Festival) and International Kite Festival.
The Vibrant Gujarat 2015 Summit is not only a summit for attracting investments into Gujarat but a platform where all the states and countries can showcase their strengths and business areas.
The Vibrant Gujarat Global Trade Show 2015, which will be organized from 7-13 January 2015, will be the biggest exhibition held so far with an area of more than 100,000 sq. mtrs. and over 1000 companies participation. With over 10,000 international delegates expected to be present from over 100 countries, this exhibition is expected to be held on the largest scale.
The government is coming up with various policies which include the new Industrial Policy, IT Policy, the Electronics Policy and the e-Governance Policy. These policies will enhance the business friendly environment of the State.
