Kolkata, September 26, 2014 : The Calcutta Stock Exchange Ltd., (CSE) has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Dhaka Stock Exchange. This MoU provides for periodic interaction and sharing of best practices. It would enable Dhaka Stock Exchange to benefit from the vast experience that CSE has accumulated over the years.
Managing Director & CEO, Mr. B. Madhav Reddy of CSE said : “Even though we operate under different laws of our respective countries but our common history and objective have again bound us together and this gives us an opportunity to share a common platform for disseminating of knowledge in the Stock Exchange Business”. He further added that “We are hopeful that this association will bind us further economically and culturally”.
The present MoU between these two Exchanges would envisage regular interactions between the Exchanges and sharing of knowledge, understanding , information and developments in capital market for the long term benefit of both the parties. This MOU also records additional understanding that both parties may strive for any inter-exchange collaborative endeavor under a common agenda mutually agreed by both parties for their benefit and interest subject to the approval of the respective regulators.
Commenting on the MoU, the managing director of Dhaka Stock Exchange, Professor Dr Swapan Kumar Bala said: “I am delighted to execute this MoU with Calcutta Stock Exchange to take our relationship to a new level with mutual benefits stemming from cooperation especially in training and areas of mutual interest.”
CSE was established in the year 1908. It is the second oldest in Asia and was the second-largest stock exchange in India till 1995. Since, demutualisation in the year 2007, the Exchange is being run by a Professional Board of Directors. CSE has over 2500 companies listed with it, out of which over 1,800 companies are exclusively listed with CSE. CSE has also entered into agreements with both BSE and NSE for sharing of their trading platform by the trading members of CSE under Section 13 of SCRA.
