Mumbai, September 27, 2017: GVK MIAL’s Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport (CSIA) today received the esteemed National Tourism Award 2015-16 for the second consecutive year from the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, under the category of ‘Best Airports in Class X (metro) Cities’. The prestigious award was conferred to CSIA by the President of India, Shri Ram Nath Kovind at a ceremony held at the Vigyan Bhavan, New Delhi for contributing immensely towards promoting tourism in the state of Maharashtra and India.
The Ministry of Tourism, Government of India presents the National Tourism Awards to various segments of the travel and tourism industry every year. The award for the ‘Best Airport’ category is designated for the Airport in India providing top notch facilities to passengers and guests. The major criteria for selection include creation of tourist friendly infrastructure, maintenance and upkeep of the airport, adaptation of eco-friendly practices etc. CSIA emerged victorious across all parameters.
One of the best airports in the world, CSIA hosts prodigious features like India’s largest public art program – ‘Jaya He’, a common lounge for passengers – GVK Lounge, dedicated Meet & Assist services – Pranaam services, expansive retail layout sprawling across 21,000 sq meters and many other offerings that promise an unparalleled and seamless travel experience to passengers.

Through facilitating non-stop flights to and from the financial capital of India, the airport operator played an immense role in offering seamless air connectivity to fliers.
