EU STEEL DISTRIBUTION SHIPMENTS HAVE REGISTERED IN NOVEMBER 2017 A SLIGHT DECREASE, AFTER 5 MONTHS OF CONSECUTIVE GROWTH.

EUROMETAL’s market monitoring system is tracking EU steel distribution shipments and stocks for its two main business segments:

 

–        Flat SSC distribution

–        Multi-Product & Proximity Steel Stockholding distribution

 

 

During November 2017, EU Flat SSC Distribution shipments stalled.

In November 2017, EU SSC steel distribution shipments lowered slightly by .0,4 % in a year-on-year comparison.

The positive trend of last months kept cumulated SSC shipments of first 11 months of 2017 at a growth rate 0f +0,8 %, when compared with first 11 months of last year.

At end of November 2017, stock volume index of EU SSC Distribution registered higher than one year before. The index of stock volumes closed at 106 in November 2017, to be compared with 101 in November 2016 (average 2015 = Index 100), consequent to high stock volumes in galvanized & other coated flat products.

EU Multi-Product & Proximity Steel Stockholding Distribution started to decrease in November 2017, after a  steady progress of shipments since summer 2017.  

November shipments noted a drop of -1,9 % in a year-on-year comparison.

Shipments of first 11 months of 2017 accounted for a decrease of -1,7 %, compared to the same period of 2016.

Stock volumes of EU Multi-Product & Proximity Steel Stockholding Distribution noted in November 2017 at index 100(average 2015=100), to be compared with an index of 96 in November 2016.

Expressed in days of shipments, stocks of November 2017 levelled at 68 days, to be compared with 65 days in November 2016.

EU steel distribution & trade account for 5 000 companies, mostly small and medium sized enterprises, providing jobs to 100 000 people in the EU. EU steel distributors, SSC and traders are systemic players in EU steel markets, supplying 80 million tons of steel and tubes to EU end use sectors. They account for 60 % of the supply in steel and tubes of EU manufacturing industries and of EU construction.
