June 26, 2014, Gerdau Steel India Ltd, a globally respected leader in the long steel segment has appointed Mr. Sridhar Krishnamoorthy as the Managing Director with immediate effect. He will, in this role be responsible for the entire India business.
Prior to joining Gerdau, Sridhar was Vice President Project Development with SENAAT, an Abu Dhabi based industrial group, which also owns and operates, Emirates Steel Industries, in the UAE.

Sridhar started his career as an engineer with Thermax India. He then worked in Thailand and Australia for almost 10 years in engineering, process and automation companies before joining ArcelorMittal with whom he spent about 12 years across Kazakhstan, Dubai and China. His role involved developing new markets, new customers, acquiring companies and dealing with government agencies as well as developing new offices and recruiting and managing people.
Sridhar has completed his Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from IIT Madras, a Masters in Energy Technology in Asian Institute of Technology Thailand and MBA from Monash University Australia. He also speaks Mandarin Chinese and Russian and some Indian languages.
