~ Bollywood honours the real life men who have always stood up for women
~ Male Influencers VVS Laxman, Arbaaz Khan, Aditya Roy Kapur ; Divas Tisca Chopra and Prachi Desai thank the Gillette Soldier for Women movement which has given voice to millions of men and women across the nation, and bring to life man values.
Kolkata, June 03, 2013: In the light of an annual movement, Gillette, a true man brand, initiated the most unique campaign called ‘Soldier for Women’. Started in the month of January, the campaign graduated to become a national movement gaining support from all over the country as it travelled across Bengaluru, Lucknow, Indore, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, and Mumbai. Recently at the culmination programme of ‘Soldier for Women’ in Mumbai, celebrities Tisca Chopra, Prachi Desai, Arbaaz Khan, V.V.S Laxman and Aditya Roy Kapur came forward to celebrate hope with over 12 million support pledges received for this campaign and over 3lac real men of honour stories shared by likeminded people across digital, mobile and other platforms. In a bid to showcase hope, influencers released Gillette Hope balloons glorifying the real life soldiers.
For decades now, men across the nation have exhibited the values of camaraderie, courage, integrity, discipline, respect and standing up for women. This movement has brought to light men who have imbibed these man values, the top most being Respect and Standing up for women. Urging others to imbibe and exhibit the qualities of soldier, Gillette tied up with NGOs – Plan India and Akshara, to conduct workshops at grass root levels and spread awareness about the campaign. Commenting at the occasion of culmination Dr Nandita Gandhi, Co-Director, Akshara said, “Soldier for Women is one of its kind initiative by Gillette. We are extremely honored to be a part of the campaign and are working closely with Gillette to take the message forward through various gender sensitive workshops at the grass root level. We are taking trainings with different groups of men and youth to take the movement forward. With Gillette’s support we will expand still further”

Former Indian cricketer V.V.S Laxman highlighted the man values that all men have within themselves and how Gillette thru this movement has been a true male brand bringing to light these values. Highlighting how in various ways and different situations men have been not just bystanders but have stood up for women, whenever required, the cricketer urged more and more men to embrace these values. I believe that these values exist in all men. I truly believe that when we respect women we respect our nation.
