Greater Noida Institute of Technology (GNIOT) recently signed a Memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Delnet. Developing Library Network (Delnet) works as a resource sharing centre and aims to collect, store and disseminate information. The MoU was signed between Mr H.K. Kaul –Director Delnet and Mr. Pawan Agarwal GNIOT during Delnet Annual General Body Meeting at JNU campus. This will help students get access to books and materials from as many as 4800 member libraries. At this occasion Dr. Sangeeta Kaul – network manager, Dr. Ashwani Singh, Asst. Professor (MBA Dept). More than 150 colleges from all over India also participated in the meet.
Said Pavan Agarwal GNIOT, The students will profit a lot from this tie-up. As part of this resource sharing initiative books will be free for students and faculty members of member colleges and institutes. For ordering books/materials a student has to just send a mail to Delnet. If the college in which the student studies is located nearby, he/she will receive the books in 2-3 days. For a college located far away, the delivery period can vary between 7-10 days. However books can be kept by the students for one week only.”
Said H.K.Kaul,“ There is a saying which mentions that knowledge increases if you share it. I think it is a great step on part of Delnet to collaborate with colleges and institutes and share the vast amount of resources at its disposal. Imagine students having recourse to a large number of libraries at a single time.”
Other participants at this workshop were – IGNOU (Indira Gandhi National Open University), IIT (Indian Institute of technology), NIIT (National Institute of Information Technology), DU (Delhi University) , Galgotia University and numerous state universities as well.
