Mumbai, December 19, 2013: The most awaited time of the year has finally arrived! As Goa comes alive with Christmas carols, decorated houses, fancy wreaths, multi-colored bells and beautiful Christmas trees. While celebrations are a plenty, the Department of Tourism has constituted strict measures to safeguard tourist safety, especially during this time of the year. Night patrolling police teams will instill confidence among tourists and will intervene in any emergency situation.
Preparations are in full swing for the festival of love, peace, fun and laughter. The coastal belts of Baga-Calangute are brightly lit and vibrant with Christmas decorations. Live music, karaoke will be a part of every restaurant along the coastal belt; not forgetting the Christmas special goodies like puddings, neuryos, bebinca, dodol and plum cakes. Shopping areas are flooded with festive glitter, stars, bells, hollies and Christmas buntings.
On December 24 – Christmas Eve, midnight masses are conducted in all churches across the state of Goa. This is then followed by a Christmas ball on December 24 & 25. Tap your feet to the tunes of Christmas with live bands and DJs performing at hot spots like Emerald lawns – Parra (North Goa), Alva Mar (North Goa), Blueberry hills – Verna (South Goa), Woodburn Country Club – Nuvem (South Goa).
Several music festivals are hosted during the festive week between December 26 to New Year’s Eve, attracting masses of domestic and international tourists. Sunburn, an electronic dance festival brings together music, entertainment, food, shopping; all at one venue. Simultaneously, Supersonic, a five day EDM festival will take place at Candolim beach featuring an impressive line-up of artists and state-of –the-art stage and sound.
The festivities continue until the feast of Three Kings/Epiphany which is held on January 6. Get ready for a fun-filled colorful Christmas with loads of activities on your plate!
