SSAB has long been a forerunner in wear steel with Hardox wear plate. Today, the know-how in wear has extended to Hardox Wearparts, the world’s largest global provider of wear parts and services.
Hardox Wearparts is a one-stop wear shop consisting of a worldwide network of more than 150 Hardox Wearparts Centers, of which 15 are owned by SSAB. These centers provide spare parts and advice to the local aftermarket in, for example, the mining, infrastructure, construction and recycling sectors.
The first Hardox Wearparts company was named 15 years ago. Originally, the concept was a way of ensuring the quality of the wear parts being produced from SSAB’s unique wear resistant steel, Hardox. “The target was to ensure Hardox quality all the way for customers using the part in their gravel pit, mine or recycling facility,” explains Per Elfgren, Head of Wear Services, SSAB Special Steels.
Today, a network of 150 companies has evolved, all centers working under the same flag, Hardox Wearparts. The centers supply high-quality products to 50,000 end users in almost every corner of the world. Hardox Wearparts is actually the world’s largest global concept for wear parts and services. So now the concept has extended from ensuring steel material quality to becoming a true “one-stop-wear-shop” with the ability to support customers for any kind of wear challenge.
One wear supplier – better customer experience
The wear part market is very fragmented and it is typical for the end user to buy wear parts from multiple suppliers. From a Hardox Wearparts Center, customers can buy an extensive line of wear products from one supplier. The offering includes not only wear parts made of Hardox, but also complementary wear products, repair and installation while providing technical know-how to help customers solve their wear challenges.
Developing the service offering
On June 10-12, Hardox Wearparts Centers from across the globe are gathering in Oxelösund, Sweden to share the latest developments in the business. This will include, among other things, the launch of a new online Product Catalog, new product offerings and advisory wear tools.
Active development of the Hardox Wearparts network is an important strategic initiative for SSAB who is placing strong emphasis on value added services. ”Hardox Wearparts is our way of getting closer to end users, those that will benefit at the end from high quality parts and good service,” said Elfgren. “By understanding their needs, we will always work hard to develop new steels and solutions that increase uptime as well as payload.”
