The Houston Dynamo and BHP Billiton have entered a partnership that makes the global resources company the exclusive jersey sponsor and premium partner of the two-time MLS Cup champions.
The Dynamo will debut jerseys featuring BHP Billiton in Friday’s home game against the New York Red Bulls at BBVA Compass Stadium.
“On behalf of the Dynamo and BBVA Compass Stadium, I’d like to welcome BHP Billiton into our family,” said Dynamo president Chris Canetti. “We appreciate their support and are looking forward to a long-lasting partnership. It is exciting to join forces with a credible, global brand whose corporate vision and value system line up nicely with ours. I’m sure that, together, we will do great things here in Houston.”
BHP Billiton’s three partnerships with the Houston Dynamo includes the company’s logo on Dynamo and Dash jerseys, sponsorship of a home game and other premier partnership signage and marketing elements.
Tim Cutt, President of BHP Billiton Petroleum & Potash, said, “We are proud to announce our partnership with the Houston Dynamo and join our name with a leading organization that brings so much value to Houston and our international community. We are very excited that the BHP Billiton name will be front and center on Dynamo jerseys as we watch them play here in Houston and around the United States.”
“It was clear during my initial discussions with BHP Billiton that both of our organizations shared very similar core values,” said Dynamo executive vice president Steven Powell. “BHP Billiton has a strong community commitment and a desire to provide their growing employee base with a highly visible point of pride. These two goals created a great fit with our commitment to serving the city.”
“Our international work force and business scope is one of the reasons why the Dynamo sponsorship is a great fit for our company. Soccer is the World’s Game and is played by young and old all around the world. It promotes the same values BHP Billiton is built on – team work, integrity, respect – and it also builds a strong sense of community wherever it is played,” said Tim Cutt.
