Patna, 15th Feb 2016:
Patna Pirates, arrived in their home city having had a great run with 6 wins and one draw in the Star Sports ProKabaddi League matches held so far. They are currently on top of the league table and look forward to consolidate their position with wins in their home stadium in front of the home crowd.
Captain Manpreet Singh said here today, that although the team had a fair amount of crowd support from the Bihar spectators in the other stadiums especially Kolkata, this will be different. Playing in Patna, with the home crowd backing them in full, will add to their determination to win. There is a special joy for any team to be able to win in their home territory, he added.
The Patna leg of the league commences from Feb 16 – 19, 2016. The first match of the home stadium promises to be an enthralling one against Bengal Warriors who currently are number two in the league standings. The Pirates will play a total of 4 matches across 4 days in Patna against Bengal Warriors, Bengaluru Bulls, Puneri Paltans and last years’ champions U Mumba. It will be their second encounter against each of these teams.
Arjuna Awardee, Coach Sanjeev Kumar, who joined the team in Season 3, says he is happy with the performance of the team so far. However, he feels the competition will get tougher from now on, with all teams having played each other and understanding each other’s game better. He is happy that Sandeep Narwal and Rohit Kumar will be rejoining the team in Patna after their absence in the last match due to the SAF Games.
The entire team seemed jubilant and a good camaraderie was evident among the players. The foreign players, Iranian Hadi Ostorak and Korean Tae Deok Eom seemed very comfortable with their team mates although neither of them know Hindi or English.
The Pirates appealed to the people of Patna to come support them in large numbers at the Kankarbagh stadium and help them make this city proud. They have pledged to give it all it takes in the matches ahead.
