Global success for leading eye diagnostics innovator with ‘game-changing impact’

The Hague – i-Optics, eye diagnostics innovator, announced today it has been selected as a Finalist for Red Herring’s Top 100 Europe award, a prestigious list honoring the year’s most promising private technology ventures from the European business region. The Finalists are invited to present their winning strategies at the Red Herring Europe Forum in Amsterdam, April 8-10, 2013. The Top 100 winners will be announced at a special awards ceremony the evening of April 10 at the event.

The Red Herring editorial team selected the most innovative companies from a pool of hundreds from across Europe. Criteria include: disruptive impact, market footprint, proof of concept, financial performance, technology innovation, social value, quality of management, execution of strategy, and integration into their respective industries.

“i-Optics shows great promise and therefore deserves to be among the Finalists.” said Alex Vieux, publisher and CEO of Red Herring. “Now we’re faced with the difficult task of selecting the Top 100 winners of Red Herring Europe.”

The i-Optics vision is an important part of the company’s success. Jeroen Cammeraat, CEO of i-Optics: “Fifteen years from now, there should be no reason to lose your vision because of inadequate or unavailable eye diagnosis and treatment solutions. That is our vision. Our smarter, more affordable products make eye care available close to the patient, anywhere in the world.”

The first of i-Optics’ two game-changing innovations is EasyScan. It is the world’s smartest retinal imaging camera that enables affordable diagnostic eye care worldwide, and as such directly contributes to preventing blindness around the globe. The second innovation is Cassini, the most accurate cornea topographer, that will help improve cataract surgery outcome and specialty contact lens fitting for immediate vision improvement and also disease monitoring.

The company has recently opened offices in the United States and Germany, and is preparing to enter the Chinese market. “With the ability to supply eye care specialists world-wide, and our entering into partnerships with leading optician retail chains, care providers and national governments we get closer to our vision every day.”

Finalists for the 2013 edition of the Red Herring 100 Europe award are selected based upon their technological innovation, management strength, market size, investor record, customer acquisition, and financial health. During the months leading up to the announcement, hundreds of companies in the telecommunications, security, Web 2.0, software, hardware, biotech, mobile and other industries completed their submissions to qualify for the award.
