Singapore and Hong Kong, November 25, 2014 – IDC Asia/Pacific announces that it will serve the Asia Pacific Internet of Things (IoT) community as a member of the Singapore Industrial Automation Association’s (SIAA) Industry Advisory Panel.
This collaboration between IDC and SIAA will include the sharing of IoT thought leadership content and concepts across both organizations and the wider SIAA community. In addition, the collaboration will generate brand awareness and strengthen the industry position as market leaders for both organizations in the IoT arena.
Under this agreement, IDC will be recognized as SIAA’s Exclusive Knowledge Partner. IDC will provide the domain expertise to moderate and interact with SIAA members and associates on a regular basis. Both parties will feature relevant IoT content on their respective web portals.
Oliver Tian, President of SIAA, comments, “The SIAA views the Internet of Things as a serious game-changer. To achieve greater productivity and efficiency, it is no longer enough to depend on hardware alone. IoT brings about a convergence of pivotal technologies which will pave the way for a new wave of automation possibilities. We view this teaming between SIAA and IDC as a powerful partnership which will help local enterprises and regional corporations to leverage and harness exciting technologies.”
Additionally, SIAA will appoint Charles Anderson, Associate Vice President, Head of Mobility & Internet of Things, IDC Asia/Pacific, as an Honorary Adviser and member of its Industry Advisory Panel. Anderson will share industry information with the professional association on a regular basis and act as a consultant to advise the SIAA on matters related to IoT.
“For the Internet of Things to reach its full potential, we, as an industry, must increase our collaboration and sharing of thought leadership. This collaboration will allow IDC and SIAA to drive awareness, within both the vendor and end user communities, of the opportunities and risks created by the Internet of Things and provide a platform for sharing industry best practices,” says Anderson.
The two partners will also organize executive and technical training programs on related topics for industry professionals; and conduct relevant surveys amongst their respective user communities that can then be shared on a public platform.
