IIM Lucknow signs an MoU with Singapore Management University, Singapore

The MoU promises extensive research, executive education programmes, faculty exchange and a possible dual certification programme to foster professional education globally

The Indian Institute of Management, Lucknow (IIM Lucknow) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Singapore Management University to enter into a long term relationship, to mutually support each other in the pursuit of excellence in global business education. Both IIM Lucknow and SMU will closely collaborate for research, executive education programmes and faculty and student exchange programme.

The MOU was signed by Prof. Rajendra Srivastava, Provost & Deputy President, Singapore Management University and Dr. Devi Singh, Director, Indian Institute of Management, Lucknow at IIM Lucknow on July 29, 2013.

The collaboration will include extensive research. SMU & IIM Lucknow will investigate avenues to enhance the research mission. Collaborative case studies would be developed which would be then used for teaching purpose, design and deliver series of faculty research workshops.

SMU and IIM Lucknow would also explore the possibility of jointly designing, developing and delivering executive education programmes in specific areas of interest to both institutions to companies co-located in Singapore and Lucknow/Uttar Pradesh.

Another important feature of this collaboration would be to explore designing, developing and delivering of joint programmes leading to certifications from both SMU and IIML.

A joint workshop by SMU and IIM Lucknow was also organised as a kick start event of this collaboration. The theme of the workshop was Innovation and Entrepreneurship. Four sessions (Business Model Innovation: Value of Technology and Brand Platforms, Marketing and Business Innovation in Asia, Motivating ‘Smart’ People to Learn, Innovate and Become Entrepreneurial, Transforming Ideas into Solutions – Recent Case Studies from Singapore Management University) were taken by the members from SMU and four sessions were taken by faculty from IIM Lucknow. This workshop was attended by senior members from the corporate world, educationists and academicians of India and Lucknow.

On the signing ceremony, Dr. Devi Singh, Director, IIM Lucknow says, “As the world gets globally connected, unification of professional education enriches the process of learning and reaches a greater potential. With globalization comes in the opportunities that have been created in various domains of learning. Research cannot be confined to geographies. In order to innovate new measures of teaching and learning we today join hands with one of Asias’s leading institution, Singapore Management University, to share our expertise and learn together”.
