Chennai, July 23, 2015: To discuss the digital transformation of the enterprise and future of HR,  National Association of Software and Services Companies (NASSCOM) kick-started the 12th edition of HR Summit 2015 at ITC Grand Chola, in Chennai. The Summit provided a platform for participants across sectors to come together and discuss the different facets of how digital is reshaping HR and the proactive role HR will need to play as digital adoption becomes mainstream.

Sharing his views, Mr. R. Chandrashekhar, President, NASSCOM, stated, “Digital is reshaping everything around us. The need of the hour is to focus on People, Processes and technology disruptions to meet the just-in-time demands of the industry while enhancing the employee experience of the new millennial workforce. Technology and Digital-led HR will need to focus on building specialists and be strategic partners in bringing-in enhanced agility while hedging the associated risks.”

NASSCOM’s IT-ITES Sector Skill Council is also working on building IT-BPM skills in India and would focus on capacity building through training & certification research in areas of cyber security, analytics, data scientist, F&A, design engineering, etc.

NASSCOM also announced the annual rankings of Top 20 IT-BPM employers in India, for fiscal year 2015. Tata Consultancy Services is the largest employer, followed by Cognizant Technology Solutions at second position and Infosys at the third.

NASSCOM also shared the key findings of its HR Survey that was conducted amongst 100+ leading organisations. The top 10 trends included:

  1. Focus on building digital skills is the biggest opportunity and challenge for the industry. The industry currently has about 150,000 people focussed on these technologies and is looking to rapidly scale this up through multiple initiatives of training, certifications, acquisitions, higher education, self learning etc.
  2. War for talent shifts from scale to skill and 58% of the respondents have stated that they are looking to hire more laterals this year.
  3. Social media tools have become an integral part of the recruiting function with almost 45% using this as the preferred mode.
  4. With an increasing millennial workforce, 87% of HR leaders state enhancing employee engagement and building the culture as the No. 1 priority.
  5. Digital + Product Engineering + Entrepreneurial skills emerge as the top skills in demand.
  6. 75% of global workforce will comprise of millennial by 2025 and organisations are redefining the workplace to adapt to this generation
  7. Led by SMAC, HR practices are now getting a digital makeover resulting in faster outreach to internal and external communities, offering deeper insights and a superior, seamless and enriching employee
  8. Over 65% of the firms that have automated HR functions have seen employee satisfaction increase between 10-25%.
  9. Top 20 employers in the IT-BPM sector account for 1.25 million India based employees, almost a third of total employment in the sector.
  10. HR of the Future will be the Change Champion, Employee Advocate, Strategic Partner

The survey highlights that technology-enabled HR will become a champion of the change and will build the workplace of the 21st century helping build leaders, plan succession, digital transformation, re-skilling, etc.
