The Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs (IICA – under the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, led by Sri Arun Jaitley) has chosen the Bengal Chamber as the nodal agency for eastern India. The Chamber President, Sri Kallol Datta, signed an Agreement with Dr. Bhaskar Chatterjee, Director-General & CEO, IICA.This was followed by a Press Conference, and the first programme by IICA and The Bengal Chamber, to announce the Chamber’s role in “Business Responsibility and Corporate Social Responsibility”.
Under the terms of the MOU, IICA and BCC&I will be partnering each other in the areas of Corporate Social Responsibility, Competition Law, Corporate Law, Corporate Governance, Inclusive Growth and Sustainable Development, and the MOU has been created to build awareness on several aspects of the new Companies Act 2013 – most specifically CSR.
Said Mr. Kallol Datta, President of The Bengal Chamber, “The MOU will be focusing on capacity building, training programmes, joint workshops, seminars and conferences. We look forward to working with IICA to organize awareness programmes and interactions. We shall also be working together to offer certificate courses and short-term training.”
