Exploring disruptive transformation in businesses and inventing new opportunities
New Delhi, 7th July 2016: INFOCOM, over the last 14 years, has evolved to be an important platform focusing on the convergence of Business, Technology and Leadership elements which are essential in driving India’s growth to the next level. As INFOCOM stepped into its 15th Edition, ABP Group initiated the Second Edition of INFOCOM – New Delhi Chapter today at the Jacaranda Hall, Habitat World at India Habitat Centre. The daylong conference themed on “Transform, Disrupt, Transform” was inaugurated by Chief Guest Shri Prakash Javadekar, Union Minister of Human Resource Development, Government of India. The inaugural ceremony also witnessed participation from Guests of Honour: Mr. Hari Om Rai, Founder, Chairman and Managing Director, Lava International and Mr. Anupam Shrivastava, Chairman and Managing Director, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd. The welcome Address was delivered by Mr. Dhruba Mukherjee, Vice President – The Telegraph, ABP Pvt Ltd.
Union Minister for Human Resource Development, Government Of India, Shri Prakash Javadekar said at the inauguration, “Modi Mantra is to ensure sustainable growth and progress for all. Questioning is pertinent and required to be encouraged in schools to inspire young minds and infuse innovation. Power of ideas prepares ground for real transformation however if discrimination persists it would hinder the change.”
Speaking at the spotlight session ‘The Age of industry with IOT (Internet Of Things)’ Shri Piyush Goyal, Minister of State with Independent Charge for Power, Coal, New and Renewable Energy, Government of India said, “The technology is changing our lives with the speed of the light. The digital revolution is an indigenous opportunity to change the world and it is transforming the lives of people in a way which couldn’t have been imagined earlier. The power of disruptive technology is immense. Digital disruption is impacting our life in a huge way and who knows this may merely be the tip of the ice berg yet. New Age thinking is the most transformative change to the world. This hopefully will make for the better world”
The opening sessions witnessed keynote addresses by Mr. Manoj Chugh, President – Enterprise Business, Tech Mahindra on the theme “Disruption, Innovation and Industry Change” where he enunciated on industry change being driven by disruptive innovations and transformations; and Mr. Vijay Sethi, Chief Information Officer and Head Corporate Social Responsibility, Hero MotoCorp who enunciated on “Digital Disruption in Manufacturing”. The esteemed keynote speakers shared their insights on the disruptive transformation in businesses, exploring new opportunities, developing efficient and better products and services in the digital age and building on a growth path in a thriving competitive environment. The eminent speakers shed some insights which set the ball rolling for the thematic sessions lined up for the day.
The nature of technology is changing. Logging on to the office desktop for checking mails has almost become obsolete. We now have technology at our fingertips, the click of the mouse is a thing of the past and now we have an array of services just a tap away. This has been possible with the path breaking technology in the digital age that has evolved the way we function. We don’t just use our cell phones to make calls but our cell phones have evolved into smartphones which enable us to avail various digital services on the go, such as e-banking or e-retailing. Technological advancement has made utility services more agile, we are keeping in touch 24×7, and have medical devices relaying information to the hospital many miles away. Work, education, entertainment and a host of services are available on tap in formats that are amazingly rich and interactive. Fostering the next round of development was a panel discussion on “Creating Breakthrough Experience in the Age of Digital” by leaders like Mr. Ashok Venkatramani, CEO, ABP News; Mr. Tamal Chakravorty, Director – IT, Ericsson Global Services India, Mr. Kamal Karnatak, Senior Vice President & Group CIO, RJ Corp and Mr. Rajesh Kumar, Vice President – Audience, Industry & Digital Marketing, SAP – Asia, Pacific, Japan. Here the speakers spoke at length about the various technological delights which have awed the customer and various path-breaking innovations which have made services a bigger success.
Sessions in the second half focused on topics like “Digital Economy – Embracing Innovations” by Mr. Avinash Pandey, Chief Revenue Officer & COO, ABP News, Mr. Sunil Kulkarni, Deputy Managing Director, Oxigen Services India Pvt Ltd and Mr. Anil Bhardwaj, Secretary General, Federation of Indian Micro and Small & Medium Enterprises; who spoke on various aspects of economy that have been transformed by digitization. This was followed by a session on “Making Indian cities, cars and citizens INSTANTLY smarter with ready-to-use advanced maps, location and IoT technologies” by Mr. Rohan Verma, Executive Director and CTO, MapmyIndia.
“The New Age of Industry with IoT” was a special spotlight session with Shri Piyush Goyal, Minister of State with Independent Charge for Power, Coal, New and Renewable Energy, Government of India. In this session some key insights were drawn on the lines of industry changes with respect to IoT (Internet of Things). The interactive spotlight session was moderated by Mr. Jayanta Roy Chowdhury, Chief of Bureau – Business, The Telegraph.
“Nurturing SMEs – The Way Forward” by Mr. Ajay Thakur, Head – BSE SME, Equity and Equity Derivatives was a session to bring forth ideas and brainstorm on climbing the ladder of success and driving sustainability for a SME. This was followed by a Panel Discussion on “How to Monetize IoT?” by Dr. Rishi Mohan Bhatnagar, President, Aeris India, Mr. Vasudeva Kothamasu, Vice President – Engineering and Head of Chennai R&D Operations, Software AG, Mr. John Molise, Chief Financial Officer, Aeris, Mr. Debabrata Das, Senior Director Worldwide, Software AG and Mr. Argha Basu, Chief Product Officer, Airtel Business, Bharti Airtel Limited, wherein the speakers spoke at length about the aspects of IoT which can be given a monetary stance.
The concluding session on “The Mumbai Dabbawalas Story” by Dr. Pawan Agrawal, Expert on Mumbai Dabbawalas, International Motivational Speaker, Author and Educationist brought forth the awe among everyone present by narrating the fabulous inspirational stories of the Mumbai Dabbawalas.
The summit was attended by over 300 delegates from large corporates, SMEs, policymakers, academia and media along with participation from 100 top CIOs/CISOs of India and over 30 speakers from amongst well-known industry leaders, ICT experts and gurus, top corporates, think tanks, entrepreneurs, government officials and academia from across the world.
