Aim to provide quality education to 150 children from remote, urban and semi-urban areas
Sahibabad, May 11, 2017: As part of its corporate social responsibility initiatives, Ingersoll Rand, a world leader in creating comfortable, sustainable and efficient environments, has partnered with Smile Foundation to announce the launch of a ‘Mission Education Centre’ in Sahibabad. The centre will help the economically disadvantaged children in the area to gain access to education and basic healthcare. With this project, Ingersoll Rand will provide quality education to children from remote, urban and semi urban areas. The program will help bring these children into mainstream in a sustained manner and strengthen their abilities to cope up with the formal education system.
Located in Sanjay Colony, Near Ambedkar Park, Arthala, Ghaziabad, U.P., The Mission Education Centre was inaugurated today in the presence of officials from Ingersoll Rand, Smile Foundation and the Mission Education Partners.
Ingersoll Rand began its partnership with Smile Foundation in the year 2015 to support Project Mission Education. Having received an overwhelming response in Kolkata, Ingersoll Rand and Smile Foundation are extending the project to Sahibabad, U. P. starting today. The program will cater to children from class 1 to 6and thereafter help them enroll in mainstream education.. Through the Mission Education Centre, Ingersoll Rand and Smile Foundation will positively impact 150 children.
The project will directly benefit and empower children from underprivileged communities in the region. Indirectly, the program will also benefit the families of these children, teachers/ educators through training sessions and community sensitization programs and community workers through mobilization programs. Some of the key activities conducted as part of the program include classroom teaching learning, progress assessment of students, co-curricular activities such as health awareness, art & craft/music/ dance activities, physical education activities etc.
With a successful running of this program, we hope to make a difference in the:
- regular attendance and retention of these children in the education program
- holistic development through curricular and co-curricular activities
- overall improvement in the health status
- increase in confidence amongst all the beneficiaries towards working for better quality of life
Through the Mission Education, Smile Foundation along with its partners has provided education to over 21,000 children across 21 states of India and this year, it aims to positively impact 25,000 more children through Mission Education.
