The pages of the calendar have passed by and brought us to yet another Durga Puja, so special in the life of the vibrant city that is Kolkata.

This Pujo, Kamala – the retail outlet of the Crafts Council of India – brings to you a truly diverse collection of textiles. The ‘Puja’ range has for shoppers some truly exquisite saris from the looms of master weavers.

This year, we have featured some of the celebrated National Award winning weavers, like Anuradha Pegu from Assam, Gajam Anjiah from Karnataka, Biren Basak and Ramananda Basak of West Bengal, G Govardhana of Telangana, Suraj Narayan Titanwala and Avdesh Pandey from Rajasthan, and many more,” said Ms. Kasturi Gupta Menon, president of the Crafts Council of India.

Shoppers can choose from a truly eclectic range of natural coloured tussar saris with hand embroidered Parsi borders; silk by cotton Pochampallis in a wide range of colours; an entirely new range of cotton Kanjeevarams and silks from the deep south; Shibori salwar suit sets, yardage and kurti pieces; Dongaria tribal saris from Orissa; “Khumbo” temple bordered saris in silk, tussar and cotton; hand–block printed Maheshwaris and Chanderis from Sanganer and Jaipur; Shantipuris, Begumpuris and Tangails from Bengal; cotton jamdani weaves from Varanasi; double ikat Telia dupattas, saris and yardage from Andhra Pradesh; pastel coloured hand-woven textured tussar saris from Bhagalpur and much more, everything sourced directly from the looms of master weavers.

The exhibition has started from 10th September and will be continued till 17th September, 10 am to 7 pm, Sunday open, at the Kamala store, at the Rabindranath Tagore Centre, ICCR.
