Designer eyewear names Bentley, Chloe, Chopard also recognised for very best in design and innovation at regional optical industry event

Iconic British designer eyewear brand Linda Farrow took home the Special Jury Award at the Vision-X VP Awards 2015 last night at a glittering ceremony recognising excellence in the optical business across optical care products and fashion frames.
Organised in collaboration with Vision Plus, the region’s number one eyewear fashion magazine, the Vision-X VP Awards took place on Sunday 6 December at the Dubai World Trade Centre as part of Vision-X, the only trade event for the optical industry in the Middle East and North Africa region which runs until Tuesday 8 December.
Linda Farrow’s exclusive pair of yellow gold aviator style sunglasses, celebrated for the brand’s timeless style, uncompromising quality and unabashed luxury, were chosen by the region’s eyecare professionals for the most coveted award of the night.
Essilor International also dominated the Awards by taking home three of the 15 categories, underlining the brand’s unrivalled reputation for manufacturing state of the art contact lenses.
Winning the Most Popular Lenses (Progressive) category for the Varilux S Series, Most Popular Lenses (Best Value) for the Transition Signature VII and Most Popular Lens Coating for the Crizal Prevencia range, Essilor proved once again that they are the world leader for corrective lenses. The group, present in more than 100 countries, has been driven by innovation for more than 160 years, developing a wide range of lenses to correct and protect eyesight.

Internationally renowned designers were also celebrating in full force at the ceremony with Bentley Eyewear winning the Best New Sunglass Model (Luxury Segment) for their B-008 Rose Gold Limited Edition, Chloe taking home the Best New Sunglass Model (Premium Segment), and Chopard picking up the Best New Spectacle Frame (Luxury Segment) Award.
Safilo Kids, represented by Optitalia Gulf FZE in the MENA Region, was victorious in the Best New Children’s Eyewear category. Gian Paolo Biasotto, General Manager of Optitalia Gulf FZE, said: “It’s a great pleasure to be back at Vision-X and to have even received a nomination for the same year as we return to the show. Safilo Kids is a new project and we have devoted a lot of attention in developing extremely good products for the children’s market.”
Ray-Ban was also celebrating on the night winning two awards, Best New Sunglass Model (Popular Segment) for their Clubmaster Wood product and Best New Spectacle Frame (Popular Segment) for RX 7069 frames, known for their distinctive round design.

More than 4,000 visitors from over 80 countries are expected to descend upon Vision-X this week, where more than 140 exhibitors from 29 countries are showcasing the latest optical eyewear and eye-care industry technologies and styles. Forecasts point to continued growth in popularity of eyewear products from many of the luxury brands showcasing their latest designs in Dubai.
