Mumbai, 11 February , 2016 – The NASSCOM IT Services Council (NITSC) today announced the launch of TechNgage, an annual initiative to further enhance technology skills available within the country by providing a platform to recognize highly skilled people. In an effort to help India become the hub of innovation and to enthuse Indian technologists to continuously evolve and become ‘World Class Techies’, the Council has identified several initiatives and TechNgage, is part of one of the key initiatives – Celebrating Technology & Technologists.
The TechNgage program has a three year roadmap, where the first year will focus on Celebrating Technologists. To kick-start TechNgage, NITSC plans to conduct a 6 city tech-event this year, wherein the shortlisted participants will be invited for a 24 hour session to contribute towards SMART CITIES in India. The cities identified are Pune, Hyderabad, Chennai, Bangalore, Delhi and Kolkata followed by a Grand Finale in Mumbai. The event is open to all IT technologists and the winners will be awarded as NASSCOM Technology Fellows and NASSCOM Technology Explorers.
Mr. R Chandrashekhar, President, NASSCOM, said, “With TechNgage, we want to democratize access to highly skilled people in the country to support budding innovations which are now playing a massive role in the growth of the sector. Keeping in mind the speed at which technology is rapidly expanding, the new skill programs will help specialists keep pace with the latest developments in the IT sector across the globe. This is also going to encourage and motivate employees to step up their skills and grow as the next generation IT experts.”
Commenting on the occasion, Ms. Sushma Rajagopalan, Chair, NASSCOM IT Services Council said, “The council’s charter is to build a fertile ecosystem to drive future readiness and innovation in the industry. Sustainable programs like TechNgage will help us identify technologists of great merit and provide a platform to solve complex problems using an interdisciplinary approach. The industry needs to bring out the individual contributors and leverage TechNgage like platforms to celebrate them.”
Out of initial 15000 participants who will be called for through online campaign to submit projects, 1000 participants will engage in the 24 hour hackathon across 6 cities. 18 participants will be selected (top 3 /each city) as NASSCOM Technology Explorers. These top 6 NASSCOM Technology Explorers will then be invited to form teams and will be given an objective to solve a real problem with a real solution under Digital India. NASSCOM Technology Fellows will be finally chosen based on Innovation, Frugal Design/Engineering and Extent of Impact.
Mr. Samir Dhir, Member, NASSCOM IT Services Council further added, “Through TechNgage we aim to celebrate Technologists across the country and provide them a platform to show their technical skills.
