– Simulation of injection molding machine and automation
– Visualization and sequence description of complex processes – KraussMaffei MC6 control system for integrating the robot user interface into the machine control system – Appearance at K 2013 trade show under the motto “Trendgineering” |
(Munich/Düsseldorf, October 16, 2013) The number of complex automated production lines is gradually increasing. At K 2013 in Düsseldorf (October 16-23, hall 15, B27/C24/C27/D24), KraussMaffei Automation will showcase not only flexible automation solutions with proven linear and industrial robots but also a new tool for simulating production lines. This animated simulation can be used to visualize the differences between particular system solutions at the early planning stages.

Visualizing complex processes
“KraussMaffei will be presenting a newly developed simulation tool at K 2013. The tool allows users to visualize not only complete production processes with injection molding machine and automation but also individual processes, such as part demolding, realistically on a computer,” explains Frank Peters, Vice President of Sales at KraussMaffei. The simulation can help decide which solution to opt for when trying to choose between different production processes. It also offers numerous advantages when commissioning a production line, as it can be used in the preliminary stages to check the existing processes between machine and automation and simulate expansion options. This new simulation tool is another addition to the WizardX, VisuX and other features of the MC6 machine control system that make users’ lives easier. It is available upon request to all interested companies as an animated, interactive simulation in the form of a PDF file.
Robot programming made clear and straightforward The WizardX and VisuX programming and operating wizards integrated into the MC6 control system make operating automated production cells significantly easier. With the WizardX graphical programming wizard, the linear robots used in the injection molding area can be programmed quickly and without error. The programming wizard enables error-free program code to be generated even by operators with no knowledge of programming. The advantage of automatic programming is that it saves the laborious and time-consuming task of troubleshooting program code. In Expert mode, the automatically generated program code can be modified and adapted by users provided they have a sufficient knowledge of programming.
KraussMaffei has, in VisuX, developed a user interface that conveniently provides the operator with all the necessary information about the industrial robot, such as program selection, counter, times or current axis position. In VisuX, all information is grouped and clearly presented over a small number of pages. The operator is therefore able to diagnose the current manufacturing process at any time and make any necessary adjustments. Split screen – keeping an eye on key parameters
The simplifications to the programming and operation of the robots reduce personnel training requirements. Quick programming allows production to start earlier. Programming errors are avoided, which saves time and money. “The MC6 control system is so straightforward and intuitively designed that users can work faster and more efficiently than ever before. Using a split screen, the screen is divided into two sections in which different content can be displayed separately. This makes sure that operators always have a good overview of all key process parameters,” explains Peters. With standardized role profiles such as machine operator, mold setter or production manager, various authorizations can be assigned quickly and easily. Additional hierarchy levels can be added and individual privileges can be allocated to specific users.
