A photographic journey through the memories of the New York rock scene

This homage to the city of New York consists of fifty photographs, shot with an old 8×10 Deardorff view camera, accompanied by captions and a foreword by award-winning, New York-based photographer Joel Meyerowitz. New York Serenade is a journey through the history, art, and music of New York, across places that resonate with memories of the past even while the future is being written somewhere else. Its images bear witness to the continuous change undergone by historical sites, by the urban landscape and by the different art forms that New York has produced over the years. Readers can discover legendary spots from the history of New York’s music scene that no longer exist, iconic streets, buildings and boroughs, and the places that played a crucial role in the careers of the city’s most representative artists.
About the Authors Ciro Frank Schiappa is a photographer whose work has been featured in numerous solo and group exhibitions. Michele Primi is a journalist at Rolling Stone.
