Number of registrants for U.S. / International Diamond Week surpasses 150

De Beers’ Varda Shine to cut the ribbon at opening ceremony

Ramat Gan, Israel – March 13, 2013: Buyers wishing to participate in the upcoming US / International Diamond Week have only a few days left to register. Upon arrival in Israel, they will be offered four free hotel nights at the Leonardo Hotel, located opposite the Ramat Gan diamond exchange complex. The complimentary hotel accommodation is being provided courtesy of the Israel Diamond Institute (IDI).

Israel Diamond Exchange President Yair Sahar reported that the number of guaranteed registrants had now surpassed the 150 mark. The U.S. / International Diamond Week will be held March 17-20, on the trading floor of the Israel Diamond Exchange (IDE) in Ramat Gan.

“This is a fantastic turnout and I am convinced this inaugural event will be very successful. We will be welcoming a large group of American colleagues, as well as of many dozens of buyers from other markets. And the variety of diamonds that will be available on the trading floor – rough and polished – will be unprecedented, ranging from very small goods to very large, one-of-a-kind diamonds,” Sahar said.

Sahar also revealed that Varda Shine, executive vice president, global sales, of the De Beers Group, will be the guest of honor at the ribbon cutting ceremony on Sunday March 17. “We’re honored and very pleased that Ms. Shine, who is an honorary IDE member, will be joining us for this festive moment,” Sahar stated.
