India, December 2014: PUMA SELECT fuses performance with culture and fashion by revisiting PUMA’s rich history. As a leading sports brand, PUMA has combined innovation with the brand’s philosophy of creating premium product for the consumer.
In AW ’14, PUMA introduces a select range of cutting-edge collaborations with influential streetwear labels such as BWGH, Alexander McQueen, House of Hackney, Sophia Chang and Mihara Yasuhiro. These edgy statement pieces lend a fresh angle to PUMA’s AW’14 Collection.
Alexander McQueen – PUMA McQ distills the vision of creative director Sarah Burton into a collection that embodies edgy, urban London. In collaboration with PUMA, this vision draws on Alexander McQueen’s rich fashion archive and merges it with PUMA’s athletic archive. This season, traditional shoe design is challenged by human anatomy. The label covers key styles such as The Move with chunky air mesh panels and soft tumbled leather for men and Leap Wn’s with a unique take on the wedge silhouette, constructed with soft leather overlays for women.
House of Hackney – House of Hackney takes the concept of British homeware and turns it on its head, subverting traditional product with playful irreverent prints and imagery. The label is on a quest to ‘take the beige’ out of interiors. Traditional PUMA styles such as the Basket and R698 get a heel-to-toe makeover. Several prints and materials are used throughout the collection. The Trinomic R698 Evo X HOH has been making moves since the early 90s with its marshmellow-y tooling and extra cushioning. Technology coupled with bright, bold and fluorescent colour accents bought fast forward PUMA Trinomic to the future.
Sophia Chang – PUMA has once again collaborated with the hip hop loving NYC based illustrator Sophia Chang. The vintage PUMA classics teamed with Chang’s quirky, urban-street inspired signature illustrations and colourful animated detail create an ultra-modern hybrid. Her collection lives and breathes Brooklyn which boasts more originality than its fellow boroughs.
Mihara Yasuhiro – Japanese fashion designer Mihara Yasuhiro gets his kicks by challenging the boundaries of sport and fashion. In his latest collection, the worlds of running and rock ‘n’ roll collide. With apparel featuring functional fabrics and edgy detailing, the shoes are grounded in technology and refurbished with studs and wild animal prints. MY-78 – A little rock, a lot of roll, this standout merges the iconic PUMA Disc with a classic brogue with superior athletic fit and style. MY-81 Turing Leopard is one of themost iconic Suede silhouette making the streets roar this AW 2014.
BWGH – An up-and-coming streetwear brand- BWGH (Brooklyn We Go Hard) is inspired by cultural references and designing for an open and passionate generation. The BWGH for PUMA collection blends style and sport with apparel that has more considered fits, sophisticated and slim silhouettes based on BWGH’s patterns and measurement charts. The collection has vintage trainers in premium material that are freshly camouflaged with prints. The collection boasts of Herringbone woven labels and attention to all the little details giving it an unmistakable, urban edge.
