Five Delhi schools make up the Membership Advisory Group for the programme
January 15, 2016: The British Council, the UK’s international organisation for cultural relations and educational opportunities has launched a new, collaborative initiative that will contribute significantly to the private sectors ability to deliver high quality English language education- English Language Quality Standards Programme. The programme is designed for schools and institutions to demonstrate their commitment to the delivery of quality English language programmes measured to international standards. This is a collaborative initiative where British Council and schools work together in creating better learning systems and outcomes for the English language programmes.
The Membership of this programme is achieved by schools operating at level four of the British Council’s Quality Standards Framework through successful on-site review of their English language programmes of study. Membership is awarded for two years after which the school is reviewed again.
DLF Public School, Nehru World School, Ahlcon International School, Bluebells School International and Sri Venkateshwar International School have been successfully reviewed and have become the official bearers of the British Council quality standards marque in India.
Speaking on the occasion Rob Lynes, Country Director, British Council India said, “The Quality Standard Marque is an initiative by British Council to contribute towards the ability of the private schools to deliver high quality English language education to students. We are delighted to award the marque to these five schools which have shown exceptionally good standards in their English Language programmes.”
The English Language Quality Standards (ELQS) Programme provides access to a range of developmental resources for English medium schools to improve their English language. British Council’s Consultancy Service supports schools towards meeting the quality standards described in the Quality Standards Framework – an India-specific framework which defines quality in relation to ten standards and five developmental stages.
The schools receive the Quality Standards Marque from the British Council and are able to display it externally to demonstrate the quality of English language teaching provision to their stakeholders such as students, parents and teachers.
ELQS Membership Network is an ideal opportunity for schools and school principals to work with the British Council and raise the profile of their school by becoming a part of an exclusive network endorsed by the British Council. Under the new membership scheme in 2016, British Council will have introductory events for institutions in Chennai, Punjab and Hyderabad
