New Junior Cup added as top leisure kart drivers compete for prizes

Dubai, UAE, 12 June 2016: The fifth edition of the Ramadan Challenge karting sprint series will get underway with Round One on Monday night (13 June) at the Dubai Kartdrome in MotorCity.
Kart racers of all ages will contest for a host of prizes awarded at the end of four rounds on Sunday, 3 July 2016.
The 2016 Ramadan Challenge is set to introduce changes to the racing format, including the launch of a new category, the Junior Cup, which is open to kart racers aged between 7 and 14 years old. Drivers over 15 years old will compete in the Senior Cup, while the separate sub-category, Masters, is open for those over 35 years old.
Junior Cup competitors will race at the Indoor Circuit of the Dubai Kartdrome and the Seniors and Masters will battle it out on the challenging Outdoor Circuit.
“There has been a huge buzz around the karting community for the 2016 Ramadan Challenge, especially with the addition of the Junior Cup to the bill. With new formats for both Juniors and Seniors, racing will be very close,” said David Bright, Dubai Kartdrome Assistant Manager.
The night series normally attracts the best leisure kart racers in the region, with prizes awarded to the top three drivers in each category at the end of four rounds. The crowning prize for the Senior Cup Champion is a fully funded Rotax or Iame race weekend, courtesy of Energy Karts Dubai.
The Junior Cup Champion will also be rewarded with a fully funded race weekend of Rotax or Iame, courtesy of CRG Middle East.
Robert Cregan, Academy Director at Abu Dhabi Racing, said, “CRG Middle East is very happy to be supporting the 2016 Ramadan Challenge; it’s a great opportunity to bring new competitors into our sport and to help one lucky winner experience a race weekend with a world renowned brand like CRG. We will be watching the results very closely and look forward to giving a huge opportunity like this to somebody who is passionate and driven about karting.”
David Bright added, “I would like to say a huge thank you to CRG Middle East and Energy Karts Dubai, who are offering great experiences for the Junior and Senior Champions of the 2016 Ramadan Challenge.”
Race action for the Junior Cup starts at 17.00 at the Indoor Circuit of Dubai Kartdrome and the Seniors and Masters will get underway at 20.00 at the Outdoor Circuit.
