New Delhi, September 23, 2015: Shivinder M. Singh, Executive Vice-Chairman of Fortis Healthcare Limited (Fortis), has decided to take up full time Sewa at Dera, Radha Soami Satsang Beas (RSSB), a philosophical and spiritual organization headquartered near Amritsar, Punjab. He will therefore step down from the position of Executive Vice-Chairman and become the Non-Executive Vice-Chairman with effect from January 1, 2016. Malvinder M. Singh, will continue to be the company’s Executive Chairman and Bhavdeep Singh who has recently joined as CEO, Fortis Healthcare Limited will be responsible for running the business.
Commenting on his decision, Shivinder M Singh said:
“Having spent almost two decades setting up and running Fortis, our mission of saving and enriching lives is an integral part of my being. Over time this has inspired me to do more direct service and give back to society a little of what I have received in abundance. A short while ago, I requested for Sewa at Radha Soami Beas, headquartered near Amritsar and I am fortunate to have been accepted. I will move to Dera, Beas post transitioning my executive responsibilities at Fortis.
“Our businesses are stable and Fortis is on a promising trajectory. This has no doubt facilitated my decision. I am confident that the depth of leadership across the Group is well placed to continue to deliver value to customers, employees and stakeholders as well as strengthen our core values.
None of this, however, would be possible without the full support and encouragement of my very able elder brother and partner in thought, Malvinder, who has stood steadfastly by me through this significant decision.
“As I transition over the next few months into a non-executive role, I want to assure our business partners and colleagues that I will continue to guide the organization to realize its full potential. I must also offer my deep appreciation for the support we have received from key stakeholders of the larger healthcare ecosystem of our country.”
Malvinder M. Singh, Executive Chairman, Fortis, said:
“I am fully supportive of Shivinder’s personal decision to take up full time Sewa at Radha Soami Satsang Beas, an organisation that has had a significant impact on both our lives and values. It is not always that one gets to commit oneself in the service of the society and I am delighted that Shivinder is taking this step at this phase of his life.
Shivinder’s contribution to the creation and evolution of Fortis as the leading healthcare delivery organisation of India has been tremendous. He has led from the front, with enormous passion and energy and has played a significant role in transforming the private healthcare landscape in India by setting new standards of quality and care. Shivinder and I have always worked together and therein lies our strength. I wish him all the very best as he answers his inner calling.”
Bhavdeep Singh, CEO, Fortis Healthcare Limited, too, offered his fullest support to Shivinder’s decision to move to the RSSB, saying:
“As a healthcare leader Shivinder has earned global renown at a very young age. His connect with people and his eye for talent contributed to making Fortis a great organization with an ability to move into the future with confidence. He has set very high standards for all of us and his enthusiasm, intellect and enterprise are his true legacy. I wish him success and happiness in the next phase of his life.”
