Washington, D.C. – The Steel Manufacturers Association (SMA) Board of Directors today announced that Tracy Porter, Executive Vice President of Commercial Metals Company (CMC) was re-elected as Chairman of SMA’s Board of Directors for the 2018-2019 term.
In 2016, Mr. Porter was appointed Executive Vice President of CMC Operations after serving as Chief Operating Officer and President of CMC Americas. He previously held various positions with the company, as he began his CMC career at the Seguin, Texas mill, later became General Manager of the CMC Steel Arkansas/CMC Southern Post unit in Magnolia, Arkansas, and also served as the head of the company’s Rebar Fabrication Division.
Additionally, Dave Sumoski, Executive Vice President of Merchant and Rebar Products at Nucor, was elected as First Vice Chairman of SMA’s Board of Directors. Mark Millett, President, CEO and Co-founder of Steel Dynamics, Inc. was elected as Second Vice Chairman. Kevin Mullen, President, Sterling Steel will serve as SMA Treasurer.

The SMA is uniquely positioned to represent electric arc furnace steel producers, who over the last 30 years have emerged as the dominant force in North American steelmaking.”

SMA is North America’s largest steel industry trade association, and the primary association for electric arc furnace steel producers.
