About the Deigner:
Shruti Sancheti is a senior design faculty from last 8 years and started her own fashion label in December 2009. The label is known to use Indian textiles and strongly believes in promoting Indian sensibilities through their designs. The label is known for its exquisite design, philosophy, impeccable finish and immaculate detailing along with timeless appeal and elegant look.
Shruti Sancheti is based out of Nagpur. She was extremely inclined towards designing right from childhood. After graduating from Loretto college, Kolkata in history honors, she studied at the newly opened JD institute of fashion technology, for an advanced diploma after which, she enrolled for a one year diploma in textile design from INIFD (stood first), followed by a one year diploma in jewellery design from JD institute of fashion technology. She has also done a PG diploma in Business management from Bhartiya Vidya Bhavans and MBA (marketing) from IGNOU.
After studying, she got into teaching at INIFD as their Head of Designing. She got into designing to show students that there was a lot of scope in Fashion Designing in Nagpur. Currently she is working with LAD College (the most prestigious college of Nagpur) as lecturer in Masters of fashion design, as well as a paper and module setter for Nagpur University. She is also a columnist with The Hitvada & The Lokmat times. Besides, she was also a motivational coach at The Flying Cats.
Shruti has always believed in the unsurpassed legacy of Indian textiles and craftsmanship, and collection after collection, she has worked with the rich heritage of Indian weaves and embroideries. Since her debut, she has worked on collections based on India and has always showcased on The Indian Textile Day at Lakme Fashion Week and also debuted this year at Wills India Fashion Week (FDCI), besides showcasing at Hongkong Fashion Week 2012 (international emerging category).
She believes textile is a part of our culture and has worked extensively for reviving weaves and worked with Weaver’s centre –Nagpur (under ministry of textiles), sourced directly from weaver’s of Vidharbha and is currently working with INDRAYANI (Maharashtra State Handloom Board) for reviving weaves of the region .Her outfits have been worn and appreciated by Ritu Kumar, Shaina Nc, Smriti Irani, Sangeeta Jindal, Prachi Desai, Zareen Khan, Nitin Gadkari to name a few.
