Kuwait, 8th May, 2013: The Regency has been named Kuwait’s Leading Luxury Hotel and Kuwait’s Leading Conference Hotel at the glittering ‘World Travel Awards’ ceremony held in Dubai on 5th May 2013.
Attended by industry leaders from all over the region, The Regency won the two hard-fought accolades from a tightly fought field.
General Manager, Mr. Aurelio Giraudo, said late last night after clinching the prizes “We are thrilled to be named not just Kuwait’s Leading Luxury Hotel but also Kuwait’s Leading Conference Hotel by the World Travel Awards jury. It is an honour for me as General Manager, as much as for all our associates, who have worked so far to take up to the top. It just proves that as a wholly independent, family-owned property since 1981, The Regency is now the benchmark for excellence in hospitality and an internationally recognized leader in Kuwait’s hospitality industry”.
The Regency recently announced it had won the contract to manage the Pearl and Derwaza Lounges at Kuwait International Airport and new contracts with major institutions for laundry and catering.
The two World Travel Awards come on the back of another milestone, on Wednesday 8th May 2013 The Regency will be celebrating 150 days at the top of the hotel rankings on the website www.Trip Advisor.com. The hotel is ranked by votes made by its guests and the league covers no less than 52 hotels in Kuwait.
The Regency prides itself on representing the spirit of Arabian and international hospitality and is considered a landmark beachfront property since its establishment in 1981.
The Regency Hotel Kuwait (henceforward called ‘The Regency’) is Kuwait’s foremost luxury hotel. To date, it is the nation’s only member of Preferred Hotel Group and has consistently been recognized as Kuwait’s leading property for corporate and leisure travelers, it was ranked #1 on TripAdvisor.com in December 2012 out of 53 hotels in Kuwait.
Family-owned since its founding in 1981, the hotel is located in Al-Bida’a, on the silver shores of the Arabian Gulf, 15-minutes’ drive from Kuwait International Airport on the quiet outskirts of Kuwait City. Salmiya, the nation’s most fashionable shopping quarter is just a few minutes’ drive away.
The Regency has 203 rooms, including 53 suites with butler service, offering spectacular views over the Hotel’s beautifully landscaped gardens, its white sand beaches and azure waters of the Arabian Gulf. All rooms and suites feature elegant furniture, sumptuous fabrics and the highest quality of imported amenities as well as complimentary Wi-Fi.
Guestrooms are equipped with the latest technology including large LCD TVs with international satellite channels. Lighting and temperature are individually adjusted. The Hotel’s stunning oceanic backdrop offers two secluded beaches (one being ladies-only), and five swimming pools, one of which is reserved for children. The women-only Ladies’ Lounge is where female guests can dine, swim and sunbathe in perfect seclusion, wearing any attire they like. The main pools require guests to follow rules of modest over-the-knee swimwear according to the principles of Sharia’a.
The hotel boasts some of the largest conference facilities in the region. Its purpose-built Conference Centre provides an ergonomic wedding, meeting and conference venue, with ten meeting rooms and four ballrooms. Ample outdoor parking and the capacity for erecting outdoor marquees frequently attracts high level international forums to The Regency.
