Jaipur, 25th January, 2017: The Pink City of India witnessed a gathering of the country’s erudite minds in a grand fête at the culminating event of the Jaipur Literature Festival 2017 – The Writers’ Ball, held at the sprawling Amer Lawns at Le Meridien Jaipur. The hotel hosted two events to mark the 10th anniversary of the Jaipur Literature Festival, which took place from 19-23rd January.

A select gathering of guests participated in an exclusive conversation with award-winning Indian-American author, Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni. The session conducted by Writer and Meidaperson Amrita Tripathi, covered topics on Women writing, the immigrant experience and Indian-Americans under President Trump’s regime. Chitra also read extracts from her latest book, Before We visit The Goddess. Her other well-known books include Arranged Marriage, Mistress of Spices & Sister of My Heart; the latter two have also been made into movies.

The moderator of the evening, Amrita Tripathi has also written contemporary fiction, including Broken News & The Sibius Knot.

The Writers’ Ball, the culmination of the Jaipur Literature Festival 2017 was held on Monday, 23rd and marked the end of yet another edition of this world famous literary festival. For the fourth consecutive year, a cultural showcase of music and cuisine was curated at Le Meridien Jaipur for over 700 guests.

An extra-ordinary performance by exceptional bands such as The Kutle Khan Project, Aga Khan All Stars and East meets Middle East through a collection of their unique, contemporary and innovative compositions highlighted the evening and engaged guests with a vibrant rhythm throughout the evening.
