Abhenav Khettry, the young and irreplaceable Managing Director of Kolkata head quartered Vyana Wealth presented the hugely acclaimed 1st Chapter of the Vyana Wealth Investor Roundtable 2013 in Association with the Business Standard on November 8th at ITC, the Sonar, Kolkata. The Event was presented by J.P.Morgan, Edelweiss and Axis MF.
Abhenav, who has already been crowned the Wealth Forum Emerging Advisor for 2013, has stretched the horizons of Investment Advisory and has emerged as a force to reckon with, which is even more creditable considering the fact that he is located out of the Eastern parts of the country, which is not traditionally revered for matters relating to investments. The comet like rise of Abhenav is also noteworthy in view of the grim prevailing situation on the economic front which is not at all conducive to investments with a large number of investors having shied away from the markets.
The evening however, was stark in contrast to what conventional logic dictated. Not only was Abhenav successful in lining up some of the most erudite players of the investment game as speakers, he was equally backed by the presence of a galaxy of HNI’s and other investors who made up the audience. Naturally, the speakers and the audience acted as complements to each other and the evening reached a level where the sheer quality of the discourse made the effort worth its every bit.
Supreet Bhan, Executive Director and Head – Retail Sales for JP Morgan Asset Management (India), Seemant Shukla, Head of sales & business development for Edelweiss Asset Management, Aniruddha Chaudhuri, Head – Emerging Markets, ICICI Prudential Asset Management and Karan Datta, National Sales Head for Axis Asset Management, held the audience mesmerised as they explained threadbare, the rationale behind their success apart from de-jargonising the very act of value investment, teaching all and sundry the basics so that they too may embrace the kind of success that legends are made of.
Earlier, Abhenav had set the ball rolling through a very precise and to the point presentation that not only had set the theme of the evening but had also given a glimpse of the fireworks that were to follow. Referring to the “not so happy state” of the investment scenario, he said, “the role of the financial advisor is not just to provide investment advice, but to also nurture and handhold an investor psychologically and emotionally during such periods”. His audience couldn’t have agreed more.
This was followed by an extremely lively round of interactions between a highly receptive audience and a panel of experts – luminaries from the world of high finance like Vikaas Sachdeva, CEO – Edelweiss Asset Management, Karan Dutta of Axis Asset Management and Supreet Bhan of JP Morgan.
Members of the audience were ecstatic to put things mildly, “I think this evening will make a huge difference in the way I approach my savings and investments” said one, while others generally lauded the effort, especially the way the fundamentals of the art of investing was explained in a lucid and understandable manner. “Not only did I have all my investment related queries answered to my full satisfaction, I have also learnt so much in the space of this evening” said one of the attendees. “To most of us, the Funds in which we park our life’s resources are mere names, perhaps even brands. Today, having seen the men that manage these funds and having interacted with them one on one, I feel much secure and cannot explain the relief that I am feeling. Kudos to the young gentleman, may we get to see many more of such innovative efforts from him.”
