890 Institutions from all over India participated in the survey
Prin L. N. Welingkar Institute of Management Development and Research (WeSchool), Bengaluru, won top honors as the ‘HUL Best Industry Linked Emerging Management Institute’ at the India-UK Tech Summit, held in the capital between 7-9th Nov 2016 .
The CII-AICTE Industry-Linked Education Institutions survey, 890 institutions participated in the survey, from various sectors such as Engineering, Pharmacy, Architecture and Management. Institutes from the Government and private sector participated. The survey was jointly carried out by the Confederation of Indian Industry and All India Council for Technical Education to assess the status of partnership between technical institutions and industry. Courses which were offered for more than 10 years were listed under ‘Standard category’, and those offered between five to 10 years were listed under ‘Emerging category’. Institutes were assessed based on six parameters namely curriculum, faculty, infrastructure, research & services / project & skill development, placements and governance.
Of this, 890 institutions, 160 were from Southern region, 155 from Western, 148 from South- West, 98 from South-Central, 93 from Central, 84 from the North- West, 83 from the East and 69 from the Northern regions. Based on the objective scored achieved by the institutions in the survey, they were grouped under ‘Platinum’ – high industry linkage (more than 30 score), ‘Gold’ –medium industry linkage (10 – 30 score) and ‘Silver’ – low industry linkage, (less than 10 score) categories. This year, 164 institutions were grouped under ‘Platinum’ category.
The Best Industry Linked Emerging Management Institute award was bagged by Prin. L N Welingkar Institute of Management, Development & Research, (WeSchool) Bangalore Campus. Last year the Mumbai Campus had bagged the award in the Standard Category.
WeSchool’s, Dr Madhavi Lokhande, Dean – Bengaluru Campus, Prof Dr Anil Rao, Senior Dean & Vice President-Strategy & Branding and Prof Dr Sonia Mehrotra, Associate Professor-Centre of Excellence for Case Development & Case Studies received the award on behalf of the Institute at the function hosted by CII-AICTE in New Delhi on November 8, 2016 along with the India – UK Tech Summit. The Summit that had its inaugural on 7th November witnessed Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the visiting UK Prime Minister Theresa May addressing the audience that included experts from diverse domains like government, industry and the academia.
Prof Dr Anil Rao, Senior Dean & Vice President-Strategy & Branding and Prof Dr Madhavi Lokhande Dean – WeSchool , Bengaluru Campus shared that “WeSchool’s leadership under Prof Dr Uday Salunkhe, Group Director, WeSchool had inspired Innovative programs in Design, E-Business and initiatives such as the Global Citizen Leader program (GCL) which addresses live industry projects. These have been instrumental in the strong industry links the Institute has built with an outcome led approach over the years.”
Giving away the awards, Prof Dr Anil Dattatraya Sahasrabudhe, Chairman, AICTE, Dr Y. S. Rajan – Professor ISRO and Mrs. Sushma Paul Berlia , President and Co-founder Apeejay Stya University unanimously highlighted the need to strengthen the entrepreneurial ecosystem, promote innovation on all turfs, enhance research and above all enhance the significance of an effective industry and academia connect.
