World Steel Association elects new officers and welcomes new members Dubai, 12 October 2016 – The Board of Directors of the World Steel Association (worldsteel) yesterday elected the following new officers for 2016/2017 at worldsteel’s 50th Annual Conference in Dubai, UAE. The new officers are elected for a one-year period:
On behalf of the Board of Directors, Edwin Basson, Director General, worldsteel, said, “I am delighted that John Ferriola has taken up the position of Chairman. He has made invaluable contributions to worldsteel in the past not only as Vice Chairman, but also as a member of the Executive Committee and Chairman of the Education and Training Committee. I am pleased that we will continue to benefit from the expertise of both Dr Wolfgang Eder, who becomes Vice Chairman, and Eiji Hayashida, who continues in his role as Treasurer. I warmly welcome Kosei Shindo as Vice Chairman and of course I warmly welcome the new members of our association.” The Board of Directors also elected the 2016/17 Executive Committee: John FERRIOLA, Nucor Corporation Wolfgang EDER, voestalpine AG Eiji HAYASHIDA, JFE Holdings, Inc.
